A light well is what brings daylight deep into a building, and that is what a well-installed window should do for your home. But before that daylight shows up, there is an old frame, a stuck sash, a fogged pane, or a door that fights you every morning. This page shows a few of the transformations we have handled around Ventura, from Midtown bungalows to hillside homes off Foothill. The before and after tells the story faster than any claim we could make.

Recent Transformations
Fogged Sliding Glass Door Replaced in Midtown Ventura
The old slider had lost its argon fill years ago. Between the fogged glass and the corroded track rollers, opening it took both hands and a shoulder. We pulled the entire unit, reset the opening with new flashing, and installed a ViewLux slider with a low-E coat chosen for Ventura’s strong afternoon sun. The track now rolls on stainless steel rollers with a screen that actually seats in its frame. The family can see their lemon tree again without wiping condensation off the glass.
Rotted Wood Window Sash Replacement Near Ventura High School
Homes near the coast take a beating from salt air, and this one had original wood sashes from the 1970s, with the bottom rail spongy enough to push a screwdriver through. Rather than patch the rot, we replaced the two worst openings with PGT vinyl double-hungs. The homeowners chose a frame color that matched the interior trim close enough that no repainting was needed inside. What changed most was the sound. Foothill Road traffic dropped to a low hum with the new glass package, and the windows now lock with one hand.
French Door Swap for a Drafty Patio Entry in East Ventura
The old French doors were handsome in photos and miserable in January. Air moved around them freely, and the deadbolt only engaged if you lifted the handle just right. We installed a Therma-Tru fiberglass set with an adjustable sill and compression weatherstripping at every contact point. The door now seals the way a door should, and the fiberglass means no warping, no swelling, no repainting every few years. The owners told us their heating bill dropped noticeably the first month.
Single-Pane to Energy-Efficient Retrofit in the Ventura Avenue District
This older home still had original aluminum single-panes, the kind that turn into radiators by 2 PM in summer. Every window on the west side of the house was replaced with ES Windows units sized to the existing rough openings, so the stucco work stayed minimal. We added new trim outside and a clean line of caulk that will stay flexible through Ventura’s seasonal swings. The rooms facing the street are now quiet enough that the owners can put their toddler down for a nap without a white noise machine.
Stuck Casement Window Rehabilitation in a Hillside Home Above Ventura
Hillside homes get more wind and more rust, and these steel casements had been permanently open in the guest room for years because the cranks were gone and the hinges had seized. We replaced three openings with CWS casement windows that close tight against a compression seal. The multi-point lock pulls the sash into the frame at three points, which matters when the Santa Anas push through the canyons. The guest room is usable again, and the windows open with one finger.
Front Door Replacement with Sidelights in a Mid-Century Home off Telegraph Road
The original front door on this mid-century home was hollow-core with a sidelight that had cracked and been taped over for who knows how long. We replaced the entire entry system, both sidelights included, with a fiberglass Therma-Tru door rated for coastal exposure. The new threshold is level and sealed, and the door closes with a solid thunk instead of a rattle. From the curb, the entry finally looks as considered as the rest of the house.
