CGI door installation in Ventura typically runs between $380 and $950 installed, depending on the part, the model, and the hardware condition. We stock CGI-compatible components on our trucks and can have most replacements done in a single visit. The call usually starts the same way: the door won’t latch cleanly, or it drags against the frame, or a hinge has started to creak in a way that says metal fatigue rather than weather. By the time a Ventura homeowner picks up the phone, they’ve usually lived with the problem for a few weeks and want it gone.
A light well is what brings daylight deep into a building. That is what a well-installed door should do for your home, too: close flush, lock securely, and shrug off the salt air near the Ventura Pier without complaint. When a CGI door component fails, it is almost never the whole door. It is one part that stopped doing its job. This page tells you which part, what it costs here, and what we do about it.
Which CGI Models This Applies To
CGI doors carry a product label on the hinge edge of the door panel, usually printed on a silver or white sticker. The label lists the series name and a manufacturing date code. We match parts by that label, not by memory, because CGI has shifted extrusion profiles across its product generations. A hinge set from the 2009 Sentry line will not seat properly on a 2016 Estate series panel, even though both doors look nearly identical from the living room side.
Lightwell Windows Ventura is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with CGI. We carry CGI-compatible hardware alongside parts for PGT, CWS, and ES Windows. On any CGI door, the decision is OEM versus a quality aftermarket equivalent. OEM parts match the factory profile exactly, but lead times from Florida occasionally stretch past two weeks. A properly spec’d aftermarket roller assembly or hinge will often match the door’s load rating and save a Ventura homeowner real money. Our rule is simple: we tell you which is which and let you decide with the price in front of you. The wrong decision here usually comes from guessing, not from cost.

Signs Your CGI Door Installation Is Failing
- The door drags along the bottom track or the header. The rollers have worn to the point where the weight of the panel sits on the track itself. In Ventura’s coastal air, that wear accelerates because fine salt dust works into the bearing surfaces and grinds them down. Replacing the rollers now saves the track.
- The lock mechanism catches, then releases, then catches again. The multi-point lock rod has misaligned with the keepers in the frame. This happens when the panel settles slightly out of square. Forcing the lever to make it work bends the rods over time.
- A hinge or roller makes a sharp, dry squeak when the door moves. That sound is metal on metal with no lubricant left. By the time it is sharp enough to notice, the bearing is likely scored. Oiling a scored bearing is a temporary fix, not a repair.
- You feel a draft at the top or bottom even when the door looks closed. The weatherstripping or the sill gasket has compressed permanently. On a Ventura evening, that draft carries moisture inland and raises your cooling bill. It is also the spot where insects find their way in.
- The door panel sits visibly lower on one side. One roller assembly has failed while the other holds. The remaining roller is now carrying the full panel weight. Left alone, it fails next, and the panel drops onto the track and gouges it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Ventura, most CGI door replacement work lands in these ranges:
- Roller assembly replacement: $180 – $320 per panel
- Hinge set replacement: $240 – $460 per panel
- Multi-point lock replacement: $340 – $560 per lock
- Weatherstripping and sill gasket: $140 – $260 per door
- Full hardware refresh (all above, one panel): $620 – $950
The range reflects whether we use OEM CGI parts or a quality aftermarket equivalent, how much of the old hardware can be salvaged, and the condition of the surrounding track. You get a written price before any work starts, every time. That is the Cedarwell Care Promise and we have operated to it since 2010. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the finished work after that. If it is not right, we make it right, no debate and no countdown.
DIY or Call Us?
What a homeowner can safely do is limited to inspection: check the label for the series name, note which corner of the panel sags, and feel for a draft at the sill. That information helps us quote the job accurately over the phone. What should not be done is unbolting hinges or trying to lift a panel out of its track without the right support. A full-size CGI glass panel can exceed 150 pounds, and when it tilts off the track, the weight shifts faster than most people expect. That one mistake has cost more than a few homeowners a broken glass unit and a strained back. We have the lifting gear, the right trim tools, and a crew that has done this enough times to know where the door wants to bind.
Keith Yamada, our owner, trained in building construction technology at East Los Angeles College and has worked coastal door and window installations for two decades since. When he walks a Ventura homeowner through what the opening will look like before any work starts, flashing and trim and all, he is doing it because he has seen too many installs where the surprise came at the end. He would rather that surprise never leave the quote.
FAQs
Rollers and hinges on a properly maintained CGI door will typically last 8 to 12 years in Ventura’s inland neighborhoods, and 5 to 8 years closer to the coast, where salt air works into bearing surfaces much faster. Weatherstripping usually needs replacement every 3 to 5 years regardless of location. Call (559) 257-2350 if you want us to look at your specific door and give you an honest read on what is left in it.
In most cases, no. A worn roller bearing cannot be re-packed, and a bent multi-point lock rod cannot be straightened without weakening the metal. What can sometimes be done is a partial repair, such as replacing one hinge leaf instead of the full set, and we will tell you plainly when that is the better route. Call (559) 257-2350 and we will tell you what we would do if it were our door.
A single-panel roller and hinge replacement typically takes 90 minutes to two hours on site. A full hardware refresh with lock replacement usually runs half a day. We schedule the visit once we know the series and part condition, so there are no return trips for a wrong part.
We keep a running inventory of the most common CGI roller assemblies, hinge sets, and weatherstripping profiles on our trucks, specifically the parts we replace most often in coastal Ventura homes. If your door needs a specialized series-specific part, we order it and schedule the install once it arrives. Call (559) 257-2350 with your door’s series label visible and we will tell you whether the part is on the shelf or needs a few days.
If your CGI door is dragging, catching, or letting a draft into your Ventura home, call us at (559) 257-2350 for a free estimate. We will put the price in writing before anything happens, and we will treat your floors, your furniture, and your time the way we would want ours treated. Light should feel like it belongs in the room, not like it found a gap and slipped through. That goes for the doors too.
