We stock and install ECO Window Systems-compatible replacement windows throughout Ventura, with most single-window replacements running between $450 and $1,200 installed depending on glass package, frame material, and opening size. Most homeowners call us because a window has fogged between the panes, become hard to open, or started showing water staining along the interior sill after winter rains. If your ECO window is no longer sealing, sliding, or shedding water the way it should, the fix is usually straightforward once we match the series and measure the opening.
One note before we go further: Lightwell Windows Ventura is an independent window and door company. We install and service ECO Window Systems products but we are not a corporate arm of ECO. That independence means we can tell you honestly when a part is worth replacing versus when the whole window should go.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To
ECO Window Systems builds several lines, and the part numbers are not interchangeable across all of them. The most common units we see in Ventura homes are the ECO 4000 and ECO 5000 series vinyl windows, along with some of the company’s aluminum-clad models in coastal properties. Each series uses different balance assemblies, sash guides, and weatherstripping profiles. Before you order a part online, check the corner of the sash or the spacer bar between the glass panes for a laser-etched label. It will show the series number, glass dimensions, and sometimes the manufacturing date code. Without that label, you risk buying a balance or latch that looks right in a photo but does not fit your frame.
The OEM-versus-aftermarket question matters here. ECO original parts fit exactly, but lead times from the manufacturer can stretch to two or three weeks, and shipping costs add up. Quality aftermarket options exist for balances, pivot bars, and weatherstripping, and we stock many of them on the truck for common ECO series. For glass replacement, we always use double-strength insulated units matched to the original Low-E coating and argon fill so the new pane does not look different from its neighbors in afternoon light.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Window Replacement Is Failing
- Condensation between the panes that won’t wipe away. The seal around the insulated glass unit has failed, letting moisture inside the air space. Once that seal goes, the argon or krypton gas escapes and the window’s insulation value drops. The glass unit needs replacing, not just cleaning.
- The sash drops or slams when you open it. ECO balances wear out, especially in windows that face direct sun for hours a day. A worn balance can’t hold the sash up, and the energy in a sagging sash makes the latch work harder and fail sooner.
- Water staining on the interior drywall or sill after rain. Ventura’s winter storms push water against the west-facing windows hard. Failed weatherstripping or a cracked corner weld lets water find a path inside. Left alone, that moisture rots the sill and framing behind it.
- You can feel air moving around the frame when the window is locked. The compression weatherstripping in ECO windows flattens over time, especially in rooms with regular temperature swings like kitchens and bathrooms. A locked window that breathes is telling you the seal is shot.
- Visible cracks in the frame or sash corner welds. Older ECO vinyl windows, particularly those installed before 2010, can develop stress cracks at the corners where the frame sections were welded. The crack still holds water out for a while, but it will spread.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Ventura, a straightforward ECO glass-unit replacement runs $350 to $700 installed. Replacing the full sash with new balances and tilt latches lands between $500 and $900. A full-frame window replacement, where the old frame comes out and the opening gets new flashing and trim, runs $900 to $1,200 per opening. The range depends on window size, whether the unit is standard or custom-dimension, and how much exterior trim work is involved.
Every quote we write is a line-item price before we touch anything. The number includes the part, labor, disposal of the old unit, and a written workmanship warranty. There is no change order at the end because we measured the opening correctly before we gave you the number. If we find hidden water damage behind the old frame, we stop and explain before spending another dollar of your money.
Keith Yamada and our crew have replaced enough ECO windows in Ventura to know which series tend to fail at the balance and which fail at the seal, and we price the job for what your window actually is, not what the catalog says it might be.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely do yourself. Clean the tracks and check that the sash is seated evenly. Look for visible cracks, loose screws on the lock, and debris blocking the weep holes at the bottom of the frame. Those are inspection tasks, and they cost you nothing but ten minutes.
What you should not attempt is removing a vinyl sash that is under tension from a failed balance. A balance assembly that releases unexpectedly can snap a finger or crack the glass. Glass unit replacement is also not a casual weekend task because it means removing and reinstalling the glazing bead and the sash without breaking the new unit. And if the frame itself has rotted or the opening was flashed incorrectly from the start, simply swapping the sash will not fix the leak. If you want to check something yourself first, call us at (559) 257-2350 and describe what you see. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth a service visit.
FAQs
Most ECO vinyl windows in Ventura hold up for 18 to 25 years before the seals or balances start failing, but the salt air near the pier and the afternoon sun on west-facing walls can shorten that to 12 to 15 years for certain components. The glass unit usually fails before the frame does. Call (559) 257-2350 for an honest evaluation of your specific windows.
Balances, weatherstripping, locks, and pivot bars can almost always be repaired without removing the frame. A failed insulated glass unit means replacing the glass itself, but the frame and sash can often stay in place. The only time we recommend full replacement is when the frame shows rot, cracking, or original flashing problems.
A single ECO window glass or sash replacement takes one to two hours on site once the part is in hand. Full-frame replacements take half a day, weather permitting. We protect the floor with drop cloths, wear shoe covers, and clean up before we leave, with a photo of the finished opening and the clean work area.
Yes, we stock common ECO balances, tilt latches, weatherstripping, and pivot bars on the truck for the 4000 and 5000 series. Glass units are ordered to spec with the original Low-E coating and gas fill, typically arriving within five to ten business days. If you need a specific part, call (559) 257-2350 with the series number from the sash label and we will confirm what we have.
